1878
Birth of the first company operating in the steel business under Marcora’s name
1908
Giuseppe Marcora reinforced the corporate activity and started producing cold-drawn and cold-rolled sections.
1931
Supported by his three sons, he expanded the range of products by first installing two furnaces for steel-casting production and, then a small ” pilgrim step ” hot-rolling mill for the production of seamless tubes and the subsequent cold-drawing.
1950
Start-up of a hot-rolling mill for long products.
1995
The company decides to move the old production
site, located in the historical centre of Busto Arsizio, to the current headquarters in Cuggiono. In this way, an important logistic expansion and a total renewal installation are carried out, with the simultaneous decision to deal exclusively with the production of long hot-rolled products.
1999
Metallurgica Marcora for the first time achieves ISO 9001 certification, an internationally recognized standard for the creation, implementation and management of a Quality Management System in the company.
2006
Installation of new sliding roughing mill to replace the old trio. The new system, consisting of two shifting cages (one horizontal and one vertical), made the rolling mill even more flexible.
2018
Another important milestone in the quality area: Metallurgica Marcora becomes IATF 16949: 2016 certified, a certification that has become a benchmark in the automotive sector, as well as a point of convergence of the schemes already recognized by American and European automakers.
2022
Revamping of the bar product evacuation area. Among the main objectives of the investment: increased efficiency of the plant, automation of some manual processes, increased safety for operators in the bar packaging area.
2023
A constant focus on ESG values makes MM to acquire ISO 14001 environmental certification, which discloses the requirements for an environmental management system.
